Arrival and Departure: The participant is responsible for organizing their own arrival and departure to the course location. This can be done in an environmentally friendly way by train. The entrance to the ski area is reachable in a 5-minute walk.
Course Schedule: Approximately from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, skiing training on snow; theory sessions take place at the hotel on several afternoons and/or evenings.
Practical and theoretical exams are held on the last two days of the course (subject to short-term changes due to weather conditions).
Recognition: Austria is divided into several federal states, each has its own law for ski schools, which can be different in the regulations. Despite these differences of the state laws, there is an agreement between the regional associations of the federal states that allows the recognition of Austrian educations in German language in all federal states. Therefore, the German courses and examinations of the Viennese Ski and Snowboard Instructor Association - Snowsports Academy are recognized in all Austrian federal states.
Examinations in English: The Snowsports Academy is the only association in Austria that offers educations and exams in both German and English. It is important to note that some Austrian federal states require appropriate German language skills to work as a snowsports instructor, and employment in these regions is only possible after passing a German exam. Therefore, we recommend taking the exam in German if you wish to work in Austria. Otherwise, only an international certificate from the Snowsports Academy can be issued, which is recognized in many countries but not in all regions of Austria.
Payment Terms: A deposit of 20% of the total price must be made at the time of course registration. The remaining amount must be paid no later than 20 days before the course starts without further reminder. For course bookings made less than 20 days before the course starts, the total price is due immediately.
Cancellation Insurance: Cancellation fees apply in case of course cancellation before the course starts. By taking out cancellation insurance, the paid amount can be protected. Further information and details about cancellation insurance can be found in the "Participation and Cancellation Conditions" or at https://service.europaeische.at/doc/en/Information_document_CompleteCover-IPID-KS_2021-EN-003.pdf
Accident Insurance: It is possible to purchase accident insurance (including helicopter rescue) for €28.00. This is strongly recommended. Please note that an education falls under the category of "professional event," which may result in the exclusion of coverage by some other insurance policies. Further information and details about accident insurance can be found in the "Participation and Cancellation Conditions."
Disclaimer: Neither the organizer nor the instructors, trainers, supervisors, except in cases of gross negligence or intent, are liable for accidents and damages to persons or property that occur to the participant or third parties.
