👉 More information about the course

E-Learning Platform:
Here you will find all relevant course content – from theoretical materials and curricula to videos and learning modules. This allows you to prepare optimally for the education and exams and to study content flexibly.

Snowsports Academy Pro App:
The app accompanies you throughout the entire education and on your further path as a ski instructor. It provides you with access to training content, organizational information, the digital ski instructor ID, as well as communication options with instructors and participants. Recognition: Austria is divided into several federal states, each has its own law for ski schools, which can be different in the regulations. Despite these differences of the state laws, there is an agreement between the regional associations of the federal states that allows the recognition of Austrian educations in German language in all federal states. Therefore, the German courses and examinations of the Viennese Ski and Snowboard Instructor Association - Snowsports Academy are recognized in all Austrian federal states and also many countries worldwide.

Examinations in English: The Snowsports Academy is the only association in Austria that offers educations and exams in both German and English. It is important to note that some Austrian federal states require appropriate German language skills to work as a snowsports instructor, and employment in these regions is only possible after passing a German exam. Therefore, we recommend taking the exam in German if you wish to work in Austria. Otherwise, an international certificate from the Snowsports Academy can be issued, which is recognized in many countries but not in all regions of Austria.

Career & job opportunities: Via the platform Snowsports Connect, you get access to international job opportunities and can contact ski schools directly. Many participants find their first job shortly after the education – both in Austria and worldwide.

👉 To the job platform

Equipment: A complete and up-to-date alpine ski equipment is required for the education. This can possibly be rented at partner sports shops at Snowsports Academy partner prices. Helmet use is mandatory throughout the entire course.

👉 The full equipment list can be found here

Terms of payment: A deposit of 20% of the total price must be paid upon course registration. The remaining amount must be paid without further reminder no later than 20 days before the start of the course. For courses booked less than 20 days before the start, the full amount is due immediately.

Travel, cancellation and rescue insurance: In the event of non-participation or early withdrawal from the course – both before the course begins and during the course – our participation and cancellation conditions apply. A refund of the course fee is not possible.

By taking out cancellation insurance, the financial risk of illness- or injury-related cancellation can be covered. In addition, this insurance also serves as rescue cost insurance including helicopter rescue.

👉 Full information about the insurance can be found here

Accident insurance: It is possible to take out accident insurance (including helicopter rescue) for €29. This is strongly recommended.

This is not cancellation or course interruption insurance! Illness-related non-participation or course withdrawal is not covered.

Please note that an education falls under the category of a “professional event,” which may invalidate coverage under some private insurance policies.

Important benefits at a glance:

  • Accident costs: up to €2,000
  • Rescue costs including helicopter: up to €15,000
  • Coverage of typical sports injuries (e.g. ligaments, meniscus)

Further information and benefits of the accident insurance can be found in the “Participation and Cancellation Conditions.”
